I will have to come back to this short walk in a year or two’s time to see if it has been re-opened, but at the time of my visit it was not possible to complete due to storm damage from the winter of 2021. I did my best to get to the end of the short path but I could not find the picnic area and the path eventually disappeared among fallen trees.

Open again now I think.
Does anyone know about the old route 521 which is marked from Dollard at the top of Crichope Linn towards Mitchellslacks? Did it originally go to Burleywag I wonder? It says Broadshaw, but I can’t find it on my map. Keep walking! Sarah
Sarah, you might get an answer to your question from Walking Dumfries and Galloway on Facebook. It looks as if you already a member.
Hi there. I just did this walk today . Still a few large fallen trees…possibly from Storm Eowyn on January 2025? Ducked and dived over them snd found a bench, but no picnic area…so not sure I walked the full way?
