Although this is not a long walk, the section through the Glen is surprisingly energetic as much of the route is up and down steep slopes or steps – which can be treacherous in wet weather especially when covered in leaves. The walk would be most enjoyable in spring or summer when the native flora which makes up the woodland can be seen at their best. The motte and bailey is easy to find and gives good views from the top.
