I wanted to save this walk for a day when I could capture the views from the top and the day of my walk seemed promising. However even before I arrived at the car park the top of the hill was covered in cloud and the views were therefore very hazy. I can promise from previous experience that on a better day the views do repay the effort of the climb.
There was some forestry work underway at the start of the walk when I visited and so the path was re-routed which added about 3 km on to the route.
The path which was installed two or three years ago on the section after leaving the plantation has made the route a lot drier than it used to be.
