Kirroughtree Forest Trails

Kirroughtree is a great forest to visit, with a selection of walks, lots of bike trails, activities for kids and a great visitor centre with cafe.

Unfortunately the information on the D&G leaflet is out of date as the walks have all been amended since it was produced (and at the time of writing more trails are being added so it might all change again). The Viewpoint Trail no longer exists (although I’m sure you can follow the route if you are interested) so instead I took the Larg Hill Trail which includes most of the old Viewpoint Trail with an extension (details are shown in one of the attached photos). It’s a fairly easy walk with good paths/tracks and mainly dry underfoot.

Note that there are parking charges at the Visitor Centre, but there is ample free parking near Blackcraig Farm, which is on the route and has the advantage of allowing you a stop part way round for a coffee at the visitor centre.
