The amount of time you spend on this short walk depends on how long you want to spend browsing in the range of independent shops along King Street, or are diverted by one of the many cafes. CD can still claim to be the Food Town with three butchers, three bakers, one brewery and one chocolatier among the shops in the relatively small town centre. At the foot of the town I would suggest a small diversion to take in Lochside Park with views over Carlingwark Loch to Screel and Bengairn.
