An easy and generally level walk with plenty to see along the way. Some patches are wet underfoot but most of the route is very easy going. The boardwalk along the side of the walk has been recently replaced and much of this section is fully accessible with new gravel chipping paths.
The castle is currently fenced off (along with almost every castle in D&G) but is still interesting to visit.
(Note that I didn’t pay enough attention to the route instructions and went the wrong way round the second field at Marlake Burn. Don’t do what I did, go the way the route recommends – the bottom corner of the field is very wet).
