St Mungo’s to Glenholm

Be aware that the mileage shown on the D&G leaflet for this walk is hopelessly inaccurate – it’s 8 km long, not 3 km as stated.

Parking at the cemetery is extremely limited. On the day I visited there were already two cars parked and no room for a third so I drove back along the road to a larger space about 500m away. Starting from there makes the walk about 9 km but gives access to the bank of the River Annan.

Overall an enjoyable route along roads and tracks, some of which are muddy in places. The roads are very quiet – on the day I was there I was passed by one vehicle in two hours. I would recommend walking shoes rather than boots.
