Cruggleton Castle

Starting at the magnificent Galloway House and Gardens, then on past Rigg Bay, through woodland and on to a cliff top path ending at the remains of a castle, this walk has lots of interest whatever time of year you manage to take it.

On leaving the pay and display car park it is well worth spending some time exploring the gardens which are now maintained by volunteers before finding your way down to the bay and starting the walk proper.

Currently there is some storm damage in the woodland section and you will find yourself squeezing under a few fallen trees. Also note that a couple of the small bridges are not in a great state of repair so take care where you put your feet. Persevere – the walk is well worth the effort!
