The rough track down to East Tarbet is easy enough if you take it slowly – on the day I visited there were several motorhomes and a caravan enjoying the free camping at the bay. Clamber up the steep bank on the northern end of the bay and follow the path along the coast for a couple of kilometres before looping back along the road. The route could easily be combined with the Mull of Galloway walk if you fancy something a bit longer. I failed to find any sign of the old kirk but I suspect it was buried under the summer vegetation.
