Starting in the woods just outside Gatehouse this is a very pleasant walk through the Cally Woods to Sandgreen, with good views over the estuary. The return leg is mainly along a country road which has plenty of traffic during the summer months due to the caravan site at Sandgreen and I would consider returning along the outward leg. There is an option to go along to go along the coastal footpath to Knockbrex from just past Sandgreen which adds 2km each way.
